Homestay and Olympics 2012

London is busy with last minute preparations for the first Olympic Games to be held in Britain since 1948. Lots of English language students are coming to study English in England and enjoy the buzz of excitement the event is generating.
For English language teachers, this is a great opportunity to use real events and related materials to create topical lessons for our homestay students. Newspapers and magazines carry increasing amounts of coverage, including The Guardian and The Telegraph .
At the BBC, there is a special area dedicated to Olympic-related EFL teaching resources: each week, a video features a different sportsperson, a work sheet, a vocab point, and links to other sporting stories. Excellent material for one-to-one tuition.
