We founded Acorn after hosting and teaching many English language students in our own home.

We realised we could draw on our years of experience teaching at home, in university, state and private school classrooms to improve on the service provided by other schools. Unlike many homestay providers, we avoid having a huge team that sprawls across the UK. We work with a select group of excellent teachers who live in key locations.

The personal relationship we have with each member of our teaching team means we can match students very carefully with teachers. Unlike many other homestay providers, we don’t send out group emails, allocating students on a first come first serve basis: we don't believe this is good any of the parties involved.

Here are some comments from our teachers:

Stella: "Raymond is an excellent communicator and an inspiring mentor for the teachers that work for him. With a background of more than ten years’ worth of experience as an educator, Raymond exhibits strong interpersonal skills and a unique capacity for empathy. It is always a pleasure when Raymond offers me a new assignment."

Shahriar: "Raymond is a highly experienced teacher providing a professional and personalised service to all students attending his courses. It is always a pleasure when Raymond offers me new assignments and projects as he is a consummate professional who gives me his full support. I have personally benefitted and become a better teacher as a result of his guidance and expertise."

Ann: "It was a pleasure to work with Raymond, he is very competent with attention to detail in his business and a great communicator."

A caring, inclusive culture

We welcome people from all background and recognise that Acorn's success lies in our ability to create an inclusive environment where everyone can realise their potential. We are determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage & civil partnership, race, religion & belief, sex, and/or sexual orientation.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect everyone who works with us to share this commitment.
